-It’s a bit on the grimmer side of movie and reading fare, but is equally as good. The film has been done for what seems like decades but doesn’t hit theaters until January 2010. Here’s hoping its worth the wait. Recently wed Mark Wahlberg and the gorgeous Rachel Weisz both star as Susie’s parents and sassy Susan Sarandon takes on the role of the doting grandmother.

Examiner.com (Hannah Lackoff) -Initially, I was thrown off by the fact that it is directed by Peter Jackson, but I then I realized that my view of him has been thrown off by the disaster that was King Kong, and I remembered how much I loved Lord of the Rings, especially when it came to his portrayal of the bonds between the characters. Incidentally, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, the dream team who wrote the LOTR scripts with Jackson, are teaming up again for this one. And the trailer looks really wonderful. I would watch this movie even if I hadn't read the book. Even if I read the book and didn't love it. I'm interested to see Saoirse Ronan from Atonement play Susie. I hated Atonement but thought she was great, and can see why she'd be a good choice for the part. Other casting choices look solid, but let's let the trailer speak for itself.
